Sure these photos might look a bit like a clip from the latest George Lucas Ron Howard flick, but it's still pretty cool to see at least CGI versions of these classics.
All I can really say is that artists Jan Rambousek and Tomáš Kopeny have some serious talent both in setting up the photo when the subjects aren't really there and in creating the subjects in post-production. Every photo gives you a feeling of living that exact moment.
These photos originally ran on a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! post featuring a Q&A with the artists and several behind-the-scenes photos that show how they stage the "action" that isn't really happening yet. I highly recommend you click the link.

Those are absolutely beautiful. In fact, I'd love to have one or two printed on a canvas.
Does somebody here have any experience with something like that?
The largest resolution of those pictures I could find was 1920x817, would that be suitable for printing? How big a canvas could I use before the image would become a mess?
EDIT: I checked out the website of a company that prints images on canvases. The aspect ratio of those images makes them most suitable for a 120x50 cm frame. Would the quality be acceptable with an image of that size blown up on a large canvas?

God that must have been one hell of a sight!

Consulted a DPI calculator and a printing forum. This resolution is suitable for a 25x11" canvas tops. Laaaame.

It appears you can order limited edition prints from their website ... if you don't mind shelling out 150 Euros (Isn't that like 300 USD these days?) and can pay the shipping. Also sounds like you're wanting something bigger than the 22x11.5" they're offering.

Actually I lied. You can order extra-large prints (260x110 cm) by request. I'm sure they're not cheap.
